Get To Know Me

2025-04-29

Hi there! I’m Lina Mahrouch, a full stack software engineer, professional gamer, and community builder passionate about leveraging technology to inspire and empower others. Let me take you on a journey through my story, interests, and the values that define me.

My Journey

I grew up in a challenging environment where independence and creativity were stifled. My strict and abusive upbringing meant I had little freedom and constant pressure to meet unrealistic expectations. Despite these challenges, I held onto my faith in God, believing that brighter days would come. This belief became a beacon of hope during the darkest times.

Coding and gaming saved my life. Secretly playing video games on my laptop gave me moments of joy and escape. Later, when I discovered programming, it opened a world of creativity and problem-solving that felt liberating. These outlets were not just hobbies; they were lifelines. They allowed me to rediscover my worth, dream of a better future, and fight for the life I wanted.

After graduating from high school, I pursued a degree in computer science. Despite my family's restrictions, I found solace and strength in coding and gaming. The turning point came in 2022 when I began playing Valorant professionally. It was a bold step that helped me gain my family’s approval and transformed my passions into a career. Today, I aim to inspire others who feel trapped by their circumstances to believe in themselves and their dreams.

My Career in Tech

With over five years of experience as a full stack developer, I specialize in building scalable, AI-driven web applications. My favorite frameworks include Remix.Run, which I’ve explored extensively in talks like "AI is the Future: Building AI-Driven Web Applications with Remix.Run""Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Remix." "Remix Your Web App Using The Platform".

Beyond technical skills, I’m passionate about mentorship, sharing knowledge, and building communities to help others overcome their own challenges.

Gaming and Esports

Gaming saved my life (literally). What began as a secret hobby blossomed into a professional career. I’m a Valorant and CS2 player, and I’m especially committed to creating safe spaces for female gamers. My latest project is a female-focused CS2 platform, a hub where players can connect for tournaments, share "Looking for Team" posts, and foster inclusivity in the esports world.

Through gaming, I’ve found confidence, joy, and a community that shares my passion. It’s a space where strategy, skill, and camaraderie come together to create unforgettable experiences.

Community Building

In 2019, I started organizing tech meetups in Morocco, blending hackathons, quizzes, and partnerships with well-known brands to bring people together. Post-COVID, I pivoted to building an online presence on LinkedIn and Discord, connecting with a global audience. Over the years, these meetups have been a platform for not only sharing knowledge but also improving my public speaking skills and addressing my own social anxiety.

Speaking of social anxiety, it’s something I’ve worked hard to overcome. By organizing events, giving talks, and mentoring others, I’ve found ways to turn a personal struggle into a strength. Building communities and fostering connections have been key to not only my growth but also to helping others find their voice.

Beyond Tech and Gaming

I’m also a beginner guitarist, exploring the world of music one chord at a time. In addition to music, I enjoy playing tennis and soccer, which keep me active and refreshed. I also love experimenting in the kitchen, focusing on creating delicious and healthy meals that fuel my busy lifestyle

My Philosophy

My life’s journey has taught me the importance of perseverance, faith, and community. I’ve learned that even in the most challenging circumstances, passion and determination can pave the way to a brighter future. Whether you’re a developer looking to break into tech, a gamer finding your path, or someone seeking inspiration, my goal is to show you that dreams are worth fighting for.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me :)
